The 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge RWD is the latest addition to the Swedish automaker's electric vehicle lineup. The C40 is a compact crossover that combines the sleek design of a coupe with the practicality of an SUV. It is based on the same platform as the XC40 Recharge, but has a lower and more aerodynamic roofline, a distinctive rear end, and a unique front grille with pixel LED headlights that can adapt to different driving situations.
The C40 Recharge RWD is powered by a single electric motor that delivers 201 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. It has a 75 kWh battery pack that provides an estimated range of 210 miles on a single charge, according to the EPA. The battery can be recharged from 10% to 80% in about 40 minutes using a 150 kW DC fast charger, or in about eight hours using a Level 2 home charger. The C40 also supports wireless over-the-air updates and comes with a complimentary charging credit for the first year of ownership, which can be used at more than 35,000 public charging stations across the US.
The C40 Recharge RWD offers a spacious and comfortable interior that can accommodate four adults and their luggage. The cabin is made of sustainable materials, such as recycled plastic bottles and wool, and features a panoramic glass roof that lets in natural light and can be opened or closed with a touch of a button. The C40 also comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that runs on Google's Android Automotive OS, which integrates Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play Store. The C40 also has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that displays relevant information such as speed, battery level, and navigation directions. The C40 also features a Harman Kardon premium sound system with 14 speakers and a subwoofer, and a range of advanced safety and driver assistance features, such as blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and collision avoidance.
